The World Fair, Food Trucks, and You – Tips for Insurance Agents

Published on December 2, 2014

Food trucks are a craze right now, there’s no denying it. It only takes going to L.A., Portland, Denver, Austin, San Francisco, or any major, growing city to hear food trucks in the list of places you “MUST eat.” And wherever the trends the larger cities take us, the rest of us tend to follow. California, of course has been on the cutting edge of most cultural things, and the food truck industry is no exception. But just because they’ve been here for a few years, doesn’t mean the upswing is over. With movies like Chef highlighting the food truck industry in California, and the hipster movement culturally supporting it, now is prime time as an insurance agent to make your ins with this community of business owners to become their insurance agent.

We have wholesale food truck insurance markets that you can utilize to become their go-to agent as more people jump on board with this cultural swing. The US is even bringing a small fleet of food trucks to the World Fair in Milan next year to showcase this new trend in our food culture. The Associated Press writes this about it:

The U.S. will show itself off as “Food Truck Nation” at the Milan Expo, bringing six authentic food trucks to Italy as part of its participation in the event opening in May for six months.

The Expo theme is food and nutrition. The food trucks will be parked near the USA pavilion and will celebrate regional food and ethnic fusion trends, with a rotating menu including barbecue, Tex-Mex, salad wraps and even kimchi tacos, according to Mitchell Davis, executive vice president of the James Beard Foundation and an official with the Friends of the USA Pavilion.

The Expo is the modern incarnation of the old World’s Fairs that thrilled 19th- and 20th-century audiences with new products and futuristic technology. While the Expos have lost their gee-whiz luster due to globalization and the proliferation of technology in everyday life, Expos continue to attract millions of visitors. More than 73 million people attended the Shanghai Expo in 2010.

So before the world fair and the world gets a whiff of what’s been going on in California, you can be out there getting ready for it. How often do you get to play a direct part in the next big cultural trend of the world? This could be your chance to make sure that these dreamers and doers of the food world get the coverage they need.
