7 Awesome Apps For Insurance Brokers

Published on September 5, 2013

We all know that technology is changing the game. Maybe you spend a little more time playing angry birds than you ought to.  But there are some awesome apps out there that can make your job in the insurance field even smoother and better!

A while back the Insurance Journal highlighted their choice of the top 50 apps for insurance agents. But 50 seems like a lot to chew on. So we’re going to highlight some of the ones we think are best and most helpful for you.

Here are our 7 favorites for this week!

This app provides access to the most commonly used ACORD (Agency Company Organization for Research and Development) forms. Available since 2012, The ACORD ONE app lets users complete forms on their mobile devices, sign forms using the touch screen, save and retrieve forms, and email completed and signed forms. The app is available for Android and Apple tablets and phones here. Cost: All current users of Cap Dat ACORD have free access to the ACORD ONE mobile app.

The CamScanner app turns your smartphone into a mobile document scanner using the phone’s camera to capture documents  (everything from articles, sketches, agreements, business cards, and even coupons). The app can utilize a smartphone’s flash to provide better lighting, and CamScanner has zoom functions which allows the user to zero-in on their scans. When users sign up with CamScanner they can backup, sync, edit and share documents on the go across smartphones, tablets, PCs and the Cloud. Download hereCost: Free.

CardMunch transcribes business cards to digitize your contact information through your mobile device. Users can take pictures of business cards with their smartphones and the app then extracts the information and imports the data to the users’ digital Rolodex. There are a lot of apps that do similar functions, but CardMunch prides itself on being different in a number of ways. First and perhaps most importantly, every business card submitted is transcribed, edited and reviewed by the company’s human workforce to ensure complete accuracy. Also, because it is a business unit of LinkedIn, the app makes it easy to connect with new contacts via the LinkedIn network after uploading business cards. Download hereCost: Free.

The CARFAX app allows users to scan or enter Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) and get CARFAX reports instantly and to view recently purchased CARFAX reports.  A new barcode scanner has been added to the app, allowing users to scan ADESA window stickers and standard VIN barcodes. The makers of connectmogul built it to help agents leverage their book of business and connect via text messaging with their prospective and current customers. They’ve found that agents using the system write more policies and have increased efficiency in 10 beginning-of day-processes. The cloud-based tool helps automate daily activities and producers can upload their book of business and work off of pre-set templates that go out to their customer base. The app sends out automatic birthday messages and reviews messages, and it helps automate the cross-selling factor by automatically promoting bundling to their customers 30 days before renewal dates It’s on the pricier side of apps, but to be fair, it’s not just an app, it’s a whole program. Sign-up HereCost: $99 per month.

On the road a lot? Hate keeping track of your expenses, but need to do it anyway? This app can help simplify the receipt-keeping process. Expensify lets users track expenses, snap pictures of receipts and create expense reports, all on the go.
