Despite fluctuations with medical insurance coverage right now, the demand for health care is one that is not going away.  According to the last data gathered, California’s health care industry employed more than 1.3 million people.  Twenty percent of those were employed in nursing or residential care facilities, a third of them were employed in hospitals, and a little over half of those workers were employed in ambulatory settings.  With a higher number of people than ever before entering the retirement age group, demand is increasing for Allied Health care, and where demand increases, supply follows.

Here are some of the Health Care Growth trends in the recent decades (via the California Health Care Foundation):

  • California’s supply of pharmacists grew 15% between 2001 and 2012, while the supply of pharmacy technicians increased 70%. About half of the state’s pharmacists were trained in California.
  • The number of physician assistants (PAs) in California grew 47% between 2001 and 2012. The Northern and Sierra region had more licensed PAs per capita than the rest of the state.
  • The supply of occupational, physical, respiratory, and speech-language pathologists all increased significantly between 2001 and 2012.
  • Between 2001 and 2012, California’s supply of medical/clinical lab technicians rose 19%.

With the growing Allied Health Industry comes a growth in the need for Allied Health Insurance Coverage for medical facilities. You can insure these kinds of risks with Abram Interstate’s Allied Health Insurance Product!
